is a blog thang, I'd post my
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows predictions here as well.
1. Will Harry, Ron, or Hermione die?Yes to Harry and Hermione, no to Ron.
Turns out I was wrong - they all survive. Dammit.2. Which character, as Jo mentioned, will get a reprieve and which two will die?I had an awful thought a couple of nights ago. I was listening to MuggleNet's podcast 98 and they were talking about how Ginny was the only person we didn't see "dead" with Mrs Weasley's boggart. Not true. We see (I'm not sure of the order): Ron, Arthur, Bill, Twins and Harry. We do
not see Ginny, Hermione or Charlie.
Now, JK Rowling has said that one character who was supposed to die got a reprieve, and two that were slated to live now have to die. This takes us to my answer of the above question:
Ron gets the reprieve, and Ginny and Hermione are the two that were supposed to live but are now to die.
To quote Ms Rowling "there will be deaths - a lot of deaths". Which means (I think, but fervently hope I'm wrong) that Charlie will die too, because it's not just those two characters (Hermione & Ginny) that will die.
I mean, we've seen Ron, Arthur, Bill, Harry and the twins "dead" in
Order of the Phoenix - but not Charlie, Ginny or Hermione. I think we'll see them dead for real in the final book.
And I can't tell you how much I really hope I'm wrong.
Wrong about this too. Ginny & Hermione definitely live - and marry Harry & Ron respectively - and CHARLIE SURVIVES TOO!!! WHOOO!!!3. Is Snape good or evil? Will he, during the course of the book, change his mind about his loyalties and switch to the other side?Snape is on Dumbledore's side - if not by choice, then as a result of making an Unbreakable Vow to always do as Dumbledore tells him to. Why else would D'dore trust him so much? Keep in mind that conversation between the two that Hagrid overheard in HBP - it sounded to me like D'dore was reminding Snape of the consequences of refusing to obey. Also, in an interview after PoA film was released, JKR said that the way Snape acted when Remus transformed was a very clear indication of what side he's really on. Snape's obviously instinctive reaction upon seeing WereRemus is to herd the Golden Trio behind him and protect them.
I was right about this - Snape is/was good. ^_^ He dead now, though. I was off on the Unbreakable Vow - turns out I was right about Snape loving Lily, though.4. What/who/where are the Deathly Hallows?I think that means that Harry and Voldemort are going to die in a place that's sacred to the Wizarding World.

I read a fanfic once where some Slytherin guy (Theodore Nott, I think) was made the new Grim Reaper and met up with Sirius in the afterlife's waiting room. XD
Go The Times - they released that one spot on.5. Who is R.A.B.? How did he manage to switch the locket? Could he still be alive?Regulus Arcturus(?) Black (Sirius' younger brother) discovered Voldemort's plan was for immortality for himself rather than the ethnic cleansing of Muggles and Muggleborns, and so decided that there was no way he was going to let his fellow elitists be betrayed like that (and by a Mudblood, no less!!). Either that, or he saw how happy Sirius was after leaving their childhood home and finally being free of their parents' influence. ANYWAY ... after he (Regulus) discovered the whereabouts of the locket, he took Kreacher to the cave - because Kreacher's magic wouldn't register against Regulus' - forced Kreacher to drink the potion (which addled his brain), replaced the locket before the basin refilled and used the innate loyalty Kreacher held for the Black family to keep him (Kreacher) silent about their little trip. I have a feeling that someone told Voldemort what Regulus was trying to do and Voldemort probably used Legilimency against him, but Regulus was able to resist it enough to show false images, leading Voldemort to believe that his soul slice was safe, and then he killed Regulus for daring to try and interfere with his plans.
YESH!! I WAS RIGHT!! Regulus Arcturus Black was indeed RAB! ^_^ Off about Kreacher, though - but not by much. Turns out it was Voldemort that had him drink the potion to hide the Horcrux in initially. Regulus went back and forced Kreacher to force REGULUS too drink the vile stuff and made off with the Horcrux by being dragged into the Inferi-filled lake.6. What and where and possible items and/or locations that the Horcruxes could be?Tom Riddle's 6th year diary and Salazar Slytherin's ring have both been destroyed.
Slytherin's locket, I think, is in Kreacher's "den" along with photos of Bellatrix and other Black family members.
Hufflepuff's cup is probably in some ruins related to Hufflepuff somehow (incredibly vague, I know) or in a museum.
The remaining mystery Horcrux is something that once belonged to Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. I'm leaning towards Ravenclaw, as D'dore seemed pretty confident that only Gryffindor's sword remains of his possessions and Voldemort never got his hands on it. So something of Ravenclaw's (something that denotes intelligence {I'll go into that in a second}) is hidden in Godric's Hollow.
Nagini is at Voldemort's side, who himself still holds the 7th (and final) part of his soul.
Now, why do I say that Ravenclaw's object denotes intelligence? Simple. Salazar Slytherin left jewellery (keep in mind that the Founders lived 1000 years ago, and the men of aristocracy wore as much - if not more - jewellery as the women). Helga Hufflepuff left a cup - an object of hospitality. Hufflepuff's are known for their warmth and friendship. And Godric Gryffindor, who founded the house that values bravery - left his sword. Considering all are fairly ornate objects, it's reasonable to assume that Rowena Ravenclaw left an ornate object of her own to her descendants. Perhaps a heavily decorated book? A jewelled inkwell? I'm not sure of what the object is itself, but I'm fairly sure it's hidden in Godric's Hollow, or somewhere else relevant to Godric Gryffindor. That would be a nice way to include all 4 founders in the Horcrux hunt, wouldn't it?
Wrong again. Sigh. I mean, I was right about it being something of Ravenclaw's - but it was a diadem (sort of a crown), which Rowena's daughter Helena nicked from her mother. *snort* Charming. And it was hidden at Hogwarts, not Godric's Hollow. But it turns out that Harry was directly descended from the Perevell brothers (coincidentally, ol' Volders is too) who were either bequethed/invented the Deathly Hallows.7. Will Hogwarts reopen? If so, who will be the new headmaster/mistress, who will be the new DADA teacher, will Horace Slughorn stay, and which student becomes apart of the staff? *phew*I think Hogwarts will reopen because parents will still want their kids to be prepared to fight the Death Eaters if they were to pop by. I think McGonagall will be Headmistress and Horace will more than likely stick around. The new DADA teacher will probably be someone in the Order (I'm thinking Bill) and like pretty much everyone else, I think Neville will eventually become the Herbology Professor.
OK. Hogwarts did indeed reopen, and Neville did indeed become Herbology Professor. Severus Snape became Headmaster (gasp!) and Alecto & Amycus Carrow (sibling Death Eaters) became the new DADA (or freshly renamed Dark Arts) and Muggle Studies teachers respectively. And yes, Horace stuck around. ^_^8. Was Dumbledore's death planned? (Yes, folks, he IS dead and will remain dead, the author confirmed it herself)Oh yeah. Most definitely. After learning about the circumstances surrounding Draco's induction into the Death Eaters, and Snape's Unbreakable Vow, I believe Dumbledore arranged things so it would always be Snape who killed him. This would be in order to preserve Draco's soul (so it wouldn't be split) and relative innocence, not to mention that Snape has probably killed before during his time as a full-fledged Death Eater, so in the grand scheme of things, one more kill by Snape probably wouldn't matter as much as Draco's first time. And as to the look of "hatred and revulsion" that was on Snape's face when he Avada Kedavra-d Dumbledore out of existance, I think that feeling was for Snape himself for having come to this point, for Dumbledore for having forced him to agree to it, for Lucius Malfoy for having raised Draco to be the way he is and for promoting Death Eater-ism and finally for Voldemort for being behind the whole thing. *phew!!*
HUZZAH!! I WAS SO RIGHT ABOUT THIS!! SPOT ON! GO ME!! *MadScaryHappyDancing ensues*9. What will be the outcome of the series (the last chapter explaining what's happened to all of the living characters)?Harry, Hermione, Ginny and Percy are dead. Neville becomes a professor. Bill teaches at Hogwarts while Fleur takes over the Hogsmeade branch of GladRags Wizard Wear. Ron either joins Charlie in Romania (but I SO hope not, I really love Charlie!!) or helps the twins with their joke shop. Weasley Snrs carry on pretty much as they do now (and Arthur gets a window in his office!! ^_^). I think Lavender will also become a teacher at Hogwarts, teaching (what else?) Divination. Tonks and Remus get married (no kids) and Tonks gets promoted to Senior Auror.
Wrong. Fred Weasley is murdered. {{{Fred has officially been Re-Fredded. Go pay Horse (http://www.the-starhorse.deviantart.com) a visit for more info!}}} Tonks and Remus did indeed get hitched, but they had a son named Ted ... AND THEN SHE KILLED THEM TOO!! Mad-Eye Moody is killed in the first couple of chapters. George Weasley loses an ear (poor darling). I'm assuming Charlie lives on - there's less of him here than there was in Goblet of Fire!! Can you believe that?!?! {{{BAH! JKR would have us believe that a guy as sexy as Charlie Weasley is more interested in dragons than women, and never marries or has kids. BAH, I SAY!!}}} Dobby, Colin Creevey and quite a few others die. Percy makes up with his family about ten minutes before the battle that temporarily De-Fred's Fred.10. What will be the "more than meets the eye" with Petunia Dursley?I think she ... I don't know. Maybe she has something that Lily gave her years ago for safe-keeping which will be important to the defeat of Voldemort. Maybe Ravenclaw's jewelled inkwell Horcrux? Maybe she got a letter for Hogwarts and got freaked and didn't want to go? Maybe she dated a wizard for a while and he broke her heart?
I was so close when I said that she got her letter and didn't want to go - she DIDN'T get a letter and wrote to Dumbledore BEGGING to be allowed to go to Hogwarts! What are the odds?11. How will the two-way mirror come into play again?I think the Trio will have to seperate at some point in their Horcrux hunt and will use it to communicate.
Aberforth Dumbledore had Sirius' one and Harry had a shard of the one he smashed. Abe used his mirror to keep an eye on Harry and sent Dobby to retrieve Harry, Hermione, Ron, Luna, Ollivander and Griphook the Goblin .12. During Bill and Fleur's wedding, will there be an attack or something out of the ordinary to occur?I think some important info will be revealed, but I'm not sure what, when or how.
Death Eater attack. How cliched.13. What will be the incredibly important information we will find out about Lily Potter?That the reason Voldemort was going to let her live was to be a trophy for Snape (for revealing the prophecy to Voldemort). I don't actually believe this for a second, but I couldn't really think of anything else. Although, when you think about, it does fit in with what we learned about Voldemort from Dumbledore - he likes to collect trophies. Hmmm... I may be onto something here...
She and Snape had a thing before she decided she couldn't ignore his Death Eater tendencies and cut him loose.General comments on the series coming to a close:I first read
Philosopher's Stone in 2001, when I was in 17 and in Year 11. I was introduced to the PotterVerse by a friend who invited me to see the first movie with her, her sister and their mother. She recommended I read the first four books before seeing the movie. I originally had no intention of seeing the movie, but then I realised I had nothing else planned and thought "yeah, OK." I bought the books, read them in the week before we saw movie, and was hooked ... and subsequently disappointed beyond all belief by the movie. Actually, all the movies, but that's not the point.
Over the last 6 years, I have come to know the characters quite well. My eternal favourites are the Weasley twins and their brother Charlie (the man works with
DRAGONS, BABY!! DRAGONS!!); Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.
I shed so many tears when Sirius died, and (if my predictions turn out correct), will be shedding so many more during Deathly Hallows as I farewell Charlie. Remus and the twins are also high on fans hitlist of characters.
Still, in two days, we'll see if I'm right. I'll update again on Sunday (I hope) so until then, see ya!
EDIT: Apparantly - and I don't know if this is true - Snape is killed by Nagini. Fancy that. But (also apparantly) I was right about him - he really was a good man. =^.^=
